Teaching a sympathetic art of reaching out to children and students in the present times.
The style of teaching has come under a great influence of the times, past,present and future.
Unless we develop that art of empathy and sympathy, the students ‘ learning would never be at its peak. The style of discipline has changed from dictatorial to democratic. Earlier the teacher would look down upon the student , and force the student to learn whatever was given. Today as technology advances and as the mind absorbs newer patterns from within the global environment , one is far more democratic to even the umpteen questions that pour out of curious minds within the classroom. The student of today is far more critical minded than before , gone are the blindfolded days, as knowledge keeps flowing around, the awareness of differentiated cultures , differentiation of job specifications, specialisation and super specialisations , research studies et all.
Today a Chocolate manufacturing company would require you to research upon the eating habits of a whole lot of population, research on the flavour to be added , to the brand imaging through the perfectly designed wrapper , to even researching on the chewing gum habit.
Take for instance the Covid, research analysis, innovations of vaccines, the combat strategies, the nature of the virus itself with its mutations , the gene tic studies , the impact on families , the process of socialising, the employment opportunities, the work from home rule et all.
Children have been affected by all what is going around. With the continuity of the learning system missing, they may be less inclined to study in formal terms ,however informally they would have already absorbed all that is going around them.
Our tonal voice needs to be more of a genuine concern rather than bull dozing them with authority.
Patience is another such quality of being able to repeat instruction, offering encouraging remarks and uplifting the morale of emotionally deprived children , particularly of those that have faced mishaps and tragedies.
Instruction needs to be well sequenced and logically imparted , helping connective bonds between the learners ‘ cognition and the subject content.
This is no time to test the higher intellectual abilities but the time for consolidation of basic learning skills , instilling the right confidence .
It helps in removing the cognitive dis functioning due to hyper insecurity and hyper emotionality
